MARION COUNTY PIONEER CEMETERY COMMISSION

Caulkins-Davies before MCPCC started work on it.
CAULKINS DAVIES CEMETERY
Caulkins Davies Cemetery is located
in Knoxville Township Section 27
Township 75 Range 19 at 1736
Hwy. 5, Knoxville. The parcel
number is 0840400100 on land
owned by Randy and Tonya
Spaulding south of Knoxville on
Hwy. 5, two miles south of the
Hwy. 92 bypass exit.
It is difficult to get to but the MCPCC
has worked extensively in this
cemetery, and it is showing a lot of
improvement. One must walk back
through the field and across a creek.
A large tree has fallen over onto
several of the graves; eight stones
are visible, but it's not known if
there are others under the tree.
The 1976 Marion County
Genealogical Society records show
8 persons recorded buried here,
mostly from the 1850s to the 1880s.
Early records say that there was "...at one time a Beulah Church near this cemetery and a road going east and west by here." Currently, there is a large stone for David and Elmira Davies who died in 1889 and 1908, respectively. The earliest burial was in 1848.
Please contact Spauldings at (641) 891-1119 before attempting to locate this cemetery.

After our first workday at Caulkins-Davies. We cleared most of the brush in the cemetery and around the fence. We will schedule another workday Spring 2015 to finish up (after crops are out and cemetery is once again accessible).
